A controversial settlement over a federal lawsuit filed by the family of 18-year-old Nathaniel Sanders heads to City Council Thursday for a vote.  City Council members still remain divided on the $750-thousand dollars settlement that would go give the money to the Sanders family or take the lawsuit to trial.

Agents from the FBI Evidence Recovery Team are training in San Marcos this week at the Texas State University body farm. The agents are learning about fingerprint recovery and will use that knowledge in natural disasters and terrorist attacks.

This week the Austin Police Association and the Austin Chapter of the NAACP announced they would hold community meetings between police officers and members of the community.

The Austin Transportation Department has been meeting with downtown residents and businesses about parking issues. At the last meeting, many showed support for extending the hours of parking meters downtown. Currently, drivers only have to pay the meters until 5:30 p.m.

Shay Morrow of Austin is suing two Travis County Correctional Officers after she says they slammed her into a wall and on the ground. The entire incident was captured on video.

A kitten crisis has prompted the Austin Humane Society to offer its first ever free cat adoption event. On Saturday from noon to 7:00 p.m. at the Austin Humane Society, all cat adoption fees will be waived.

City council members got their first look at the proposed budget for next year. They said it's good news and included some major changes from a version proposed in April.

Deputies say they arrested four people and seized two methamphetamine labs Monday in Burnet County.

Sunset Valley police officers captured a man who escaped from Travis County Sheriff's Deputies early Wednesday morning. According to officers, 22-year-old Todd Zurovetz was found at a restaurant near Ben White and Manchaca.
